Most online payment services allow users to make cashless transactions securely through the UPI. A UPI PIN is a four or six-digit number that confirms and processes your online transactions. This PIN is unique to every bank account, and it is set by the user. But what if you have forgotten the UPI PIN or wish to change it due to security reasons? You can quickly change or reset the UPI PIN in the Bank settings of your payment app. This guide will elaborate on the necessary steps for changing the UPI PIN on GPay, PhonePe, and Paytm.

How to Change & Reset UPI PIN on Google Pay

The section below will give you the detailed step-by-step procedure to change or reset your Google Pay’s UPI PIN.

Steps to Change UPI PIN on Google Pay

1. Open the Google Pay app on your smartphone and ensure you have a proper Internet connection.

2. Click the Profile icon at the top-right to enter into your profile page.

3. Look for the Back Account option and tap it.

Select the Bank Account option

4. On the next screen, you can see a list of bank accounts. From that, select your Primary Bank Account or Secondary Bank Account and get a list of options.

5. Click the three-dotted icon at the top-right and choose the Change UPI PIN option.

6. Now, you need to enter your 4 or 6-digit Old UPI PIN using the numerical keypad and click the Submit or Next button.

7. By doing so, you will be asked to enter a New PIN on the next screen. So, enter a new 4 or 6-digit PIN and activate it.

Steps to Reset UPI PIN on Google Pay

If you have forgotten the GPay UPI PIN, you can reset it and create a new one using the below steps.

1. Launch the Google Pay app on the smartphone and hit the Profile icon at the top-right corner.

2. Under the Setup payment methods section, choose the Bank Account option.

3. Then, select your Primary Bank Account or Secondary Bank Account from the list of displayed banks.

4. Hover over to the Forgot UPI PIN option, and you need to choose either the Debit/ATM Card or Aadhaar option to verify your bank account.

5. By default, the Debit/ATM card option will be selected. So, click the Continue button at the bottom to proceed with the process.

6. Further, input the last 6-digit number of your Debit/ATM card and enter the expiration month and Year of your Debit/ATM card.

7. As a next step, you will receive an OPT to your registered mobile number. Make a note of it and enter it to confirm the process.

8. Then, set a new valid 6-digit UPI PIN, and finally, you will get the updated message on your phone’s screen.

How to Change & Reset UPI PIN on PhonePe

1. Open the PhonePe app on your smartphone and go to the home page.

2. Select the Profile icon at the top-left corner and get the list of options.

3. Look for the Bank Accounts option under the Payment Methods option and tap on it.

4. Further, select your Bank Account from the list of banks and enter it. Then, you can see Reset or Change under the UPI PIN option.

5. If you choose the Reset option,

  • Enter your Debit Card’s last 6-digit number and input the Expiry Month and Year. Then, proceed to reset the UPI PIN.

6. Suppose you select the Change option,

  • You will be prompted to input your Old 4 or 6-digit UPI PIN on the next screen. So, enter it and click the Submit button. Then, enter the new UPI PIN to set up your account.

Finally, you can proceed to access the PhonePe app or make any online payments using the new UPI PIN.

How to Change & Reset UPI PIN on Paytm

1. Launch the Paytm application on your smartphone and click the Profile icon at the top-left corner.

2. Scroll down and select UPI & Payment Settings from the list of options.

3. As a next step, choose your Default Bank Account under the Payment Accounts section.

4. Now, you can see the UPI PIN option. From there, click the Change option to proceed with the process.

5. Further, hit the Proceed option on the next screen to change the UPI PIN using your Debit Card. You can also change the PIN using your Aadhaar Card.

6. Finally, input the last 6 digits of your Debit Card, the Expiry Date, and the Month to proceed with the reset process. Otherwise, click the I Remember the PIN option to change your UPI PIN.

1. How many attempts are allowed per day to reset your GPay PIN?

Typically, GPay allows you to reset your UPI PIN three times per day. If you exceed this limit, you may be temporarily blocked from making transactions for 24 hours.

2. Can I change the UPI PIN on BHIM?

Yes. Go to your Bank Account settings on the BHIM app and click the Change UPI PIN option to set a new UPI PIN.
